    The premier oceanfront picnic-and-camp park on the South Fork, at 2 Old Montauk Highway. The park lists scenic picnic areas and fireplaces, a 189-site campground on the ocean (2026 season 4/10 to 11/22), showers, playing fields and a playground. Day-use fee is $10 per vehicle, collected daily 5/23 to 9/13 between 8am and 4pm; ocean swimming runs 5/23 to 9/13.

    Theodore Roosevelt County Park

    1,157 acres at the eastern end of Montauk wrapping Big Reed Pond, with bayfront lawns, equestrian trails, and the Third House visitor center. The lawn behind Third House is the quietest sunset picnic in Montauk. Suffolk County's own site lists the park as "Montauk County Park"; dogs are welcome on leash, and Picnicking is on the county's published amenity list.
