Mashomack Preserve
2,350 acres and 11 miles of coastline covering roughly a third of Shelter Island, owned by The Nature Conservancy and known as the “jewel of the Peconic.” ADA-compliant picnic tables have been in place at the picnic area since spring 2021, and the Conservancy asks visitors to pack it in and pack it out. No pets are allowed, and the preserve closes to all visitation during the January firearm season.
