Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center and Museum

Shinnecock Hills · Est. 2001

The log building of the Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center and Museum in Southampton, New York, its OPEN sandwich board out by the door. Cropped from the right-hand end of a wider frame whose left half holds the museum's own name board, which is what identifies the building.

The cultural center of the Shinnecock Indian Nation. Permanent exhibits on wampum, whaling, and the nation's federal recognition fight. The Labor Day powwow is the signature event but the year-round exhibits are the reason to come.
