The Sagaponack compound Ira Rennert built on Daniels Lane, reported at 55,000 square feet — among the largest private residences in the country. Its 2008 tax bill alone came to $420,528 — more than any of the East Hampton properties in the same survey, Gurney's and Gardiners Island included.
