Montauk Playhouse Community Center

Montauk

The biggest historic building in Montauk, on the National Register under its historic name, the Montauk Tennis Auditorium. Developers donated the site to the Town of East Hampton in 1999 and the building was pulled back from demolition; it reopened as a community centre in 2006 and took the Preservation League of New York State's award for it two years later. Inside now are a gymnasium, the child care and senior centres, a Town Clerk's annex and the new Iudicone Aquatic Center with a 25-yard lap pool.
