Yes if you are already driving to Orient Point - the water inside the spit is flat and the birding is the best on the North Fork. Only if you check the wind first, because the bay side turns choppy fast.

Kayak and paddleboard rentals inside Orient Beach State Park, on the sheltered Long Beach Bay side of the spit, plus delivery to North Fork addresses. The only paddle operator on the site east of Greenport. Park entry fee applies separately.
